Katy ISD students, including those at three campuses with Fulshear addresses, are on fall break Oct. 9–13, 2026. The Katy ISD Board of Trustees added that break in an amendment to the 2026–27 instructional calendar and adopted a 2027–28 calendar that includes a fall break too. The district posted the decision on January 20, 2026.

Why the board added a fall break

The district said both calendars followed community feedback that showed strong support for a fall break. It surveyed parents, students, and staff, and it said the results showed a clear preference for including one. The announcement thanks the thousands of families and staff members who took the survey. It does not print a vote count or the survey totals.

Katy ISD says the calendars meet board policies EB (LEGAL) and EB (LOCAL), which require at least 75,600 operational minutes. Elementary and junior high campuses run 437 minutes a day. High school campuses run 447 minutes a day.
